Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems — Program Educational Objectives and Student Outcomes

Program Educational Objectives 

(Reviewed, Updated and Approved on February 27th, 2025 by the CIS Faculty in consultation with the CIS Advisory Board)

  1. Program graduates will understand and apply ethical considerations while working to solve problems for an organization.
  2. Program graduates will, in line with their team role and team and organization goals, contribute high quality work to team-based projects for an organization.
  3. Program graduates will communicate effectively and professionally with persons in various roles within an organization and other stakeholders.
  4. Program graduates will have competencies related to the functions and applications of technology to contribute productively and effectively to the processes of an organization.
  5. Program graduates will help solve problems for an organization by identifying, analyzing, developing, testing, implementing, deploying, and operating information system-based solutions.
  6. Program graduates will maintain seek knowledge of emerging and changing information system methodologies and technologies to address critical needs of an organization.
  7. Program graduate will understand the importance and value of information and data to an organization and work to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems.

 

Student Outcomes

  • Student Outcome 1: Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  • Student Outcome 2: Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  • Student Outcome 3: Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  • Student Outcome 4: Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  • Student Outcome 5: Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
