Warren Merrifield, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Information Science Technology at the University of Houston. His background is in Experimental Psychology with an emphasis in Cognitive Neuroscience, magnetoencephalography (MEG), in silico modeling of neurological disorders, and machine learning. He has broad research experience working with a diverse group of patients with epilepsy and traumatic brain injury (TBI), and a productive track record of leading projects with academic, government, and military partners. As a Research Scientist at Huntington Medical Research Institutes working on a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant, he co-developed a non-invasive MEG brain mapping technique to localize receptive language function in epilepsy patients before neurosurgery. As a Senior Scientist, Warren led the MEG program during the formative stages of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center — National Intrepid Center of Excellence. He worked with NICoE leadership, military and civilian leaders, and scientific collaborators to develop a comprehensive program to diagnose and treat TBI.
