Biography
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science Technology at the University of Houston, with a joint appointment in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department. Prior to this, I served as a Research Scientist at the University of Florida, collaborating with Professors Sanjay Ranka and Anand Rangarajan. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science and Engineering from the University of Florida in 2012 under the supervision of Professor Sartaj Sahni.
My research primarily focuses on AI applications in healthcare, addressing challenges such as:
- Foundational machine learning and graph-based methods for spatially structured scientific data.
- AI-driven analysis of biomedical and health data, with emphasis on spatial transcriptomics, neuroimaging, digital pathology, translating machine learning advances into interpretable and clinically meaningful insights.
- Intelligent and secure cyber-physical systems, encompassing smart transportation, connected and autonomous infrastructure, and cybersecurity for CPS.
Classes
2024-2026:
- CIS 2347: Information Systems Infrastructure and Networking (Spring)
- CIS 6325 : Network Security (Spring, Fall)
Research Interests
My research primarily focuses on AI applications in healthcare, addressing challenges such as:
- Predicting the success of deep brain stimulation (DBS) in patients with Parkinson's disease and essential tremors.
- Developing predictive models for chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) based on genomic analyses and environmental effects.
- Leveraging AI to proactively identify individuals at risk for depression and suicidal ideation.
